A customer ased us about how to choose a notebook for him. Today notebook prices range from USD600 to USD4,000. For performance issue, we suggested to choose the ones at least USD2,000 or above with good graphic performance. There are two types of graphics cards available in the market, one is for games and one is for professional graphics. Like Nvidia it has GeForce for games and Quadro for CAD. Although the hardware chip sets are similar but the Quadro provides support hardware acceleration for anti-alias, multiple windows switches, multiple clip planes, better memory management,... pls CAD certification. For hassle free production design environment, choose the professional graphics. Detail you may find from SolidWorks' website for certified graphics.

The recent AMD Firepro Graphic Cards also provide excellent price performance to run SolidWorks. Their entry level card starts from US$100 up. http://www.amd.com/us/products/workstation/graphics/ati-firepro-3d/Pages/ati-firepro-3d.aspx
