C.H. Lai, Director, R&D
C.H. Lai
started his career in mold and die industry in 1988 as an
application engineer in the largest Hong Kong metal stamping
company. He successfully migrated die design from drafting board to
computer aided design and implemented computer aided manufacture in
the company. Mr. Lai realized that CAD/CAM would be the necessary
tool for design and manufacturing and he found Intelligent CAD/CAM
Technology in 1994 to focus on software development for the stamping
industry. In 1996, he introduced 3D CAD system SolidWorks from USA
to Hong Kong, Macau and South China. 3D QuickTools Ltd. was found in
2002 by C.H. with his partners to develop the 3D progressive die
design software 3DQuickPress, which is well accepted by worldwide
users. Mr. Lai has over 20 years experience in stamping industry.
His expertise includes surface modeling, parametric solid modeling,
CAD application in progressive die design and NC programming. |

Micky Ng, Director, R&D
Micky Ng
brings 7 years of experience in the CAD/CAM field to 3D QuickTools Ltd. In
his five years of postgraduate research study, he gained an intensive
knowledge in geometric modeling and rapid prototyping. Working together
with Pierre Lui in the PI-Mold project, he grew his SolidWorks programming
skills in the specific areas of detailed implementation of coding,
integration and system administration. Micky served in Hong Kong Aircraft
Engineering Company Limited in 1992 and gained practical knowledge and
experience in mechanical engineering. Then he joined Hong Kong Productive
Council as a consultant on CAD application development. Micky earned a
bachelor degree in mechanical engineering and a master degree of philosophy
from The University of Hong Kong. |

Pierre Lui, Director, R&D
Pierre Lui
brings more than 10 years of research
experience in the CAD/CAM field to 3D QuickTools Ltd. His doctorate thesis
in the allocation of geometric tolerance and surface finishing established a
strong foundation for his analytical approach towards the 3DQuickPress
algorithm development. Pierre also participated in another research project
- PI-Mold, a Hong Kong government funded research project in 2000-2002,
enabled him to know extensively the SolidWorks development environment and
related geometric modeling algorithm.
Pierre
has a bachelor degree in mechanical
engineering, a doctor degree of philosophy in The University of Hong Kong. |
