Hong Kong, May 3, 2016 – In the design of progressive die tooling for metal connectors and terminals, different regions of the required metal part may vary in material thickness. This is to achieve the required contact location and final shape after stamping.
To do the unfolding and strip layout design of this type of sheet metal component is quite tedious. And it requires doing many manual modeling tasks. With the regional unfold feature of 3DQuickPress, the unfolding of multiple thickness component becomes easy. Different thickness on the sheet metal component will be separated into different thickness regions. Features of different thickness, like bends, emboss, and coining, are identified and unfolded automatically according to the different material thickness of that region. The identified features can be activated directly in the strip layout design. This facilitates the easy in strip layout design of sheet metal connectors and terminals without the needs of manual modeling the variable thickness region. And therefore increase the productivity of the industry.
With the request from major customers of 3DQuickPress in US, Germany and Japan, new features are added to the existing 3DQuickPress system to automate the electronic terminals and connector tooling design process. Tooling manufacturer needs the automation process to speed up their design process in order to adapt to the rapid changing electronic product market.
